About Us

About the Colorado ‘Mountain Riders’

The Colorado ‘Mountain Riders’, formed in 2006, is a unique motorcycle club in several ways.  First, there is not much formality.  We have a club president, and other officers and a set of by-laws that provide overall guidance for the club.  But most of what we do and where we ride is member driven.

We only have one membership ‘requirement’, and that’s about it – that our members be 40 years of age, or older.  It’s not that we dislike younger folks – it’s just that we have found many similar interests among people who have been on life’s journey for awhile.

We have several planning meetings in the course of a year, and a grand holiday party at Christmas time to celebrate the past year of riding.  We do not have regular weekly or monthly meetings.  Instead we socialize and build camaraderie during our rides.

Our ride schedule (see link) is created months in advance, and published for the entire year. This allows members to plan so they can maximize their number of rides. We ride primarily in the beautiful Southwest, in the states of Colorado, New Mexico, Wyoming and Arizona.  There is no finer area in this country (perhaps the world) to ride motorcycles.  We schedule 8-10 Rides per year, most 2-3 days in length.  In addition we schedule at least one Long Ride to areas such as British Columbia, or Yellowstone / Jackson Hole.  We have some Day Rides scheduled in advance but most occur spontaneously during the year.

Our club members have one overriding goal, and that is to enjoy – to enjoy motorcycling and the spectacular scenery of the Southwest – and, to enjoy each other’s company.  We could care less what type of bike our members ride – as long as they ride.  We have members who have touring bikes, sport tourers, cruisers, and sport bikes.  They have Honda’s, Harley’s, Yamaha’s, Kawasaki’s, Suzuki’s, BMW’s, and whatever – it doesn’t matter.

Some members are retired, some work.  Some ride two up, some single.  And, we have nine female riders at present.  We are a diverse group, and that is part of our enjoyment.
